Regional seminar - " Applying the Concept of IWRM in Central Asia: Current Practice and Future Development"

A regional Seminar took place on the 9th of November 2012  in the Kazakh-German University in collaboration with it's international partners (Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany, the German Society International Cooperation, United Nations Development Programme, Economic Commission for Europe, Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe). The workshop was aimed at the discussion and dissemination of IWRM projects experienced at the international, national and local levels in Central Asia.

Workshop Objectives:

1. The discussion and dissemination of existing international practices on the application of IWRM concepts in Central Asia

2. The better understanding of IWRM ideas and their applications in Central Asia

3. Capacity building through the examination of relevant practices for IWRM in Central Asia

The participants:

There were representatives from 5 countries of Central Asia, representing State agencies, NGOs, academic institutions, as well as young IWRM specialists of the Kazakh-German University and international project partners.

In the field of the seminar framework, a book presentation took place on the 12th of November 2013.  The book was named "Applying the Concept of Integrated Water Resource Management in Central Asia: Current Practices and Future Development"
