On June 6, 2016, the IWRM Summer School CAWa opened it's doors at the Kazakh-German University. At the opening ceremony the Summer School students were welcomed by KGU President Dr. Markus Kaiser, Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany Dr. Renate Schimkoreit, and Dudar Zhakenov, adviser to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan. Also students were familiarized with an introduction to GIS (Geographic Information Systems) held by L.Morper-Buch and M.Leynich,representatives of Wurzburg (Germany).
The summer school has been planned to introduce innovative methods and tools for the analysis and monitoring of water and land resources in Central Asia. These methods are of great importance for the integrated management of water and land resources management. At the 2-week summer school, theoretical lectures and practical training sessions will take place with a discussion on the introduction of new methods and tools in the management of land and water resources in Central Asia.
