The assessment of climate change impact on water resources and societies in Central Asia requires interdisciplinary research involving natural and social scientists. The GlaSCA‐V project funded by the German Volkswagen foundation is undertaking such interdisciplinary research focusing (1) on the analysis of the spatio‐temporal variability and changes in the contributions of glacier and snow melt to total river runoff in Central Asian river basins, and (2) on the assessment of socio‐ecological vulnerability of the riparian communities and economic sectors to past and potential future changes in runoff.
The Young Scientists School organized in the frame of the GlaSCA‐V project aims at expanding the methodological skills of young researchers from Central Asia. The training will be held in two parts with the focus on basic methods applicable to natural and social sciences: Statistical Methods.
