On the 9th and 10th of October, 2015, a group of 37 people, consisting of students from 1st to 4th year study of "Thermal Engineering" (an educational program studying "Energy and Environmental Technology") and 2nd year master's degree students studying "Integrated Water Resources Management", headed by Professor Vyacheslav Alekseevich, went on a research tour of "thermal groundwater deposits". It is known that the internal heat of the Earth - geothermal energy - can be widely used as a non-traditional source in heating, electricity generation, spa treatment, and hot water supply. The bearer of this energy is thermal groundwater, warmed up in the depths of the high temperature earth that then forms deposits of thermal groundwater. One of these unique deposits of thermal groundwater is the Zharkent artesian basin, located in the Ili basin in the city of Zharkent district, 300 km from Almaty.
