Student business project competition "Water enterprises"

This project was aimed to attract young people from Central Asian countries to the Aral Sea problems using entrepreneurship. Students form Central Asian universities, studying different specialties (hydrology, ecology, management, water management, etc.) were invited in groups of 3 to make a business project aimed at improving the disaster situation in the Aral Sea region. The project was led by the Kazakh-German University, where a special committee was organized to choose the best project. The projects covered various areas, from health care to landscaping and automated gauging of the  Syr Darya and the Amu Darya. The winners were invited to Almaty, where they presented and discussed their work to World Bank representatives and other partners. After the presentations, participants had a three-day study tour to the Aral Sea, supported by the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (Executive Directorate in Kazakhstan).

Students from Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan participated in the project. There were 29 participants selected and then invited to Almaty and to theAral sea study tour.
